You’re the best ever – Chelsea supporters remember Roman Abramovich

Chelsea Football Club supporters commemorated the 57th birthday of their former owner, Roman Abramovich, on Tuesday. The Russian oligarch and politician was celebrated on social media by fans who appreciated his significant contributions to the club.

Roman Abramovich acquired Chelsea in June 2003, taking over from the previous owner, Ken Bates, who later purchased rival club Leeds United.

Notably, Abramovich’s role as the director of Chelsea was terminated by the Premier League on March 12, 2022, and a new ownership group led by Todd Boehly was subsequently announced by the league management on May 7.

Fans expressed their heartfelt wishes and gratitude for Abramovich:

  • “Happiest Birthday to one of our own Chairman Roman,” one supporter wrote.
  • “The best, the man, the risk-taker, the businessman. The Russian. Happy Birthday.”
  • “Shall Always be Missed.”
  • “Will forever be grateful.”
  • “I love the man. He was my Chelsea.”
  • “Words don’t do Roman any justice; he simply loved us and would do anything to win. Happy birthday to the world’s best-ever owner.”

This celebration reflects the enduring respect and fondness that Chelsea supporters have for Roman Abramovich, acknowledging his pivotal role in transforming the club’s fortunes.
